Hi there! My name is James Alver and I’m originally from a small mountain town in North-Central Arizona. While I am a lifelong creative and artist, I have been obsessed with digital art and design ever since I got my feet wet helping a local architect with photo retouching in an after school job during high school. After graduating from NAU with a BFA in Visual Communications, I moved to the Cascade foothills in the PNW. In a decade of working as both a freelance and in-house designer, I have had the opportunity to work on a diverse array of projects with a wide range of clients. These varied experiences have made me very adaptable and able to move seamlessly between different types of projects and visual design styles. Although I am adept at working solo, I love solving design problems with a solid creative team and combining ideas from team members’ unique perspectives with my own into innovative, effective and beautiful design solutions. Although my introduction to the world of design was via PhotoShop, I feel truly at home in InDesign and Illustrator working on layout, typography, and label/packaging design.
When I’m not designing cool stuff, I can usually be found outside playing with my dog, exploring nature, getting dirty in the veggie garden or working in the shop on a project. I’m intensely curious and love learning, exploring and growing.
